Constant Léon

Constant Léon is author and trans journalist based in Armenia since 2018 (RTS, Ouest-France, Le Monde diplomatique). Also painter and sound designer, he is working on a novel set in a museum of incest, which allows access in the flesh to the violence linked to intersectionality and to forms of resilience, not yet colonised by liberalism.

Diadié Dembélé

TJ Benson is a writer and visual artist from Nigeria whose collection of short stories ‘We Won’t Fade into Darkness’ was published in 2018. 'The Madhouse' is his first novel and his 3rd book ‘People Live Here’ is coming in August. He lives in an apartment full of plants and is in danger of becoming a cat person.

Laura Taouchanov

Laura is a journalist, author, and filmmaker in the radio and podcasting industry. She believes that life sounds better through headphones, how about you? Born to an English mother and a Bulgarian father, she has always been interested in questions of belonging, community, and identity. Since graduating from the École Supérieure de Journalisme de Lille in 2019, she has joined several national radio stations (RMC, Europe 1, Radio Classique...) and continues to work regularly for the Transfert podcast (Slate audio). Living abroad in Dublin between 2021 and 2023, she also served as a correspondent for French-speaking radios for two years (Radio Suisse, RTBF, Radio Canada, Radio France, RFI...).

Karim Madani

Born and raised in working class Paris in the 1970's, Karim Madani has been immersed in the love of cinema, comics, jazz, soul music, funk and film soundtracks since he was a child. Freelance journalist for prestigious magazines specialized in urban cultures. (Vice, les Inrocks), he is also ghostwriter for artists, editor of bios for journalists and collaborates with labels like Universal Sony or Capitol.

Lola Bertet

Born in Paris in 1993, Lola developed a passion for stories early on. After her studies in theatre focused on dramaturgy, she discovered the world of podcasts. She launched her first one in 2016, titled "Dans la Loge" ["Backstage"], a series of interviews with female performers. She received training at Radio Campus Paris, Longueurs d'Ondes before going back to university to complete a master's degree in Journalism. In 2020, she self-produced a podcast called "Déplacement(s)" ["Shifting"]: life trajectories turned upside down consequently to the Covid-19 crisis.

Eva Tapiero

With a father of Algerian and Moroccan Jewish origins and a French mother, Eva is very attached to both her native Limousin and North Africa. She is a journalist, author and director. Her work focuses on Jewish and Arab-Muslim cultures from here and elsewhere, exile and immigration, revolts, identity, love, intra-family violence, women and childhood.

Walid Hajar Rachedi

Co-founder of Frictions and Publication Director

After growing up in the Paris region, Walid Hajar Rachedi spent seven years in the United States and Latin America, notably in Brazil and Mexico. He is the co-founder and managing editor of Frictions. He is the author of Qu'est-ce que j'irais faire au paradis? (Emmanuelle Collas, 2022, J'ai lu, 2023) and Nos Destins sont liés (Emmanuelle Collas, 2023). In 2022, he was a finalist for the Prix Goncourt du 1er roman 2022, the Prix Orange du Livre and the Prix Senghor du premier roman.

Graduated from the French Press Institute in Paris 2 Panthéon-Assas, Moussa DIOP was, for about ten years, correspondent for the Senegalese daily newspaper Le Soleil in Paris. Former member of Le Monde and RFI, he also holds a degree in History and in the Image of Africa in French textbooks.

Originally from Boise, Idaho, Emily has worked in the United States, the United Kingdom and France. Now, as a content editor for a textbook publisher, she targets grammatical structures and vocabulary for language learners. In her own writing, however, she seeks to understand unexpected incidents and the people who live through them.
